O’Malley takes 101st House seat.
Republican Jack O’Malley defeated Democrat Kathy Wiejaczka to become the next representative of Michigan’s 101st House of Representative district, which includes Mason, Manistee, Benzie, and Leelanau counties. O’Malley won by 58% of the votes, 28,249-20,714.
“I am honored,” O’Malley said this morning. “To receive an individual’s vote is a very precious thing to me. Knowing how many have died so that we can vote, I am honored that the people have chosen me. That is humbling. I won’t let them down.”
O’Malley is well-known throughout the district as a radio and TV personality. He will replace Ludington Republican Curt VanderWall who was elected as the next senator representing the 35th state district.
