Bear hit by vehicle in Victory Township.
VICTORY TOWNSHIP — A black bear was struck by a vehicle early Tuesday evening on Fisher Road between Peterson and Victory Corners roads, near the Lincoln River. Michigan State Police Trooper Matt Demny said when he arrived on the scene, the bear was badly wounded and it was necessary to dispatch the animal. He said it was obvious that a vehicle had struck the bear and then left the scene. Demny added that a citizen was issued a permit to take the bear. Demny estimated the bear weighed about 175 pounds.
Mason County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.
