Motorcyclist dies in crash.

RIVERTON TOWNSHIP — A Ludington area man died Sunday night following a car/motorcycle crash at the intersection of Scottville and Hawley roads. His female passenger was critically injured as a result of the crash. According to deputies on scene, the crash occurred when a westbound Ford Fusion was attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Scottville Road. Deputies said they were told by witnesses that the Ford stopped at the stop sign and then turned into the path of the northbound motorcycle.

The man was declared dead at the scene. Aeromed helicopter was called to the scene from its Big Rapids facility and transported the female victim to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The driver of the car and the car’s passenger were not injured. We do not have the gender or the ages of the people in the car at this time.

Names of the victims are currently not being released until notification of the family. Neither victims on the motorcycle were wearing a helmet. 

Assisting on scene were Mason County Sheriff’s Office, Riverton Fire Department, Life EMS ambulance, Michigan State Police and Pere Marquette Fire Department.
