AMBER TWP. — A 45-year-old Hamlin Township man was transported to the hospital following a rollover crash on Stiles Road south of Conrad Road about 6:45 p.m. Monday. According to Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies on scene, the man was traveling north in a Ford F-150 on Stiles Road and attempted to swerve for a southbound Buick driven by an 18-year-old Texas man crossed into the northbound lane. The pickup rolled 1.5 times, landing on its side and trapping the man in the vehicle. He was the only passenger in the vehicle.

The driver of the Buick told deputies that he was stopped to pick up mail at a mailbox and then was attempting to make a left turn across Stiles. He and his two passengers were uninjured. According to Sgt. Derek Wilson, the man was being ticketed for failure to yield the right-of-way.

The injured man was taken to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital by Life EMS ambulance. He appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Responding to the scene, in addition to the sheriff’s office, were Scottville Fire Dept., Custer Fire Dept. and Life EMS ambulance.
