AMBER TWP. — Law enforcement has cleared the scene at 532 W. Hansen Road after a nearly 9 hour search of the area. Deputies from Mason County Sheriff’s Office were initially called to the scene about 11:30 a.m. after one of the residences of the home reported a person had pulled a gun on him as he entered his driveway. That suspect and another person, reportedly fled the area on foot.
Upon arriving on scene, within two minutes (a deputy was on a traffic stop near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Hansen Road during that time), a deputy discovered the home ransacked and the residence’s dog shot.
Several law enforcement agencies were called to the scene (see related story).
“We really appreciate the patience of the neighborhood,” Sheriff Kim Cole said. “It isn’t everyday that a person threatens someone in this community with a gun and shoots the person’s dog.” Law enforcement searched several homes in the area.
Cole said the victim and his family have been taken to the sheriff’s office where they were assisting detectives with the investigation.
