McDonald’s Bakery named Business of the Year.

HAMLIN TWP. — McDonald’s Bakery of Ludington was named the Ludington & Scottville Area Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Business of the Year during the chamber’s annual banquet Saturday at Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

The business has been owned and operated by the same family for the past 126 years. Mike and Ellamae McDonald bought the bakery from Mike’s dad, James, in 1960. Now their son, Mike and his wife, Terry, own the bakery with them, making it a fourth generation business.

“The purpose of the business of the year award is to recognize a business that has made an impact on the community,” said Kathy Maclean, president and CEO of the chamber.
